ADHD Management
Focus on What Matters
A Deeper Look
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects much more than attention. It can influence the way you organize your life, regulate emotions, manage time, complete tasks, maintain relationships, and view yourself. Many adults with ADHD spend years believing they are lazy, unmotivated, or simply "not trying hard enough," when in reality they are navigating a nervous system that processes the world differently. ADHD often presents differently from person to person. While some people struggle with distractibility and forgetfulness, others experience chronic overwhelm, difficulty getting started, emotional sensitivity, impulsivity, perfectionism, or feeling constantly behind despite working incredibly hard. Many adults with ADHD have learned to mask their struggles, leaving them exhausted from trying to keep up with expectations while silently wondering why everyday tasks seem so much harder than they are for everyone else. Living with ADHD can affect nearly every area of life. You may find yourself procrastinating on important tasks, forgetting appointments, struggling to prioritize responsibilities, feeling overwhelmed by clutter, or becoming stuck in cycles of avoidance and self-criticism. Difficulties with emotional regulation may lead to frustration, rejection sensitivity, or feeling easily overwhelmed by stress. Over time, these challenges can contribute to anxiety, low self-esteem, burnout, and feelings of shame. My approach to ADHD therapy recognizes that lasting change rarely comes from simply trying harder. Instead, therapy focuses on understanding how your brain works, identifying barriers that interfere with daily functioning, and developing practical strategies that align with your strengths rather than fighting against them. Together, we will work to improve executive functioning skills such as organization, planning, prioritization, time management, emotional regulation, and self-awareness. We may also explore the impact ADHD has had on your relationships, confidence, work, or academic experiences while challenging the negative beliefs that often develop after years of feeling misunderstood. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. Drawing from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and practical executive functioning strategies, I tailor treatment to your individual goals and experiences.
